The Problem
Steep, vegetation-covered terrain can be extremely dangerous or damaging to machinery and those who operate it. In most cases, machinery will not help eliminate invasive and nuisance species such as poison ivy & oak, kudzu, knotweed, thistle, and nettles as it will leave behind clippings of the plants they are cutting.
This is only a temporary solution and the plants will grow back. This method is also likely to cause damage to natural wildlife habitats and the soil in the area. Using herbicides is also not a common approach in public spaces either, and they are unable to remove species such as knotweed.

The Solution
With the ability to reach heights of up to 6 feet on their back legs, climb trees, and withstand a greater amount of tannins than cows or sheep — GOATS
are a unique solution to issues managing vegetation growth.
Having a diet composed primarily of grazing, goats eat a diverse range of plants, though they do not particularly enjoy grass. While grazing, goats are able to decrease the production of seeds by eating the seeded stems of plants. These seeds are unable to survive passing through their digestive tracts.
When the goats pass waste containing the nutrients from the plants they ate, it gets trampled into the soil — promoting growth for other plants. Repeating this process over time will defoliate the invasive / nuisance plant species, eventually causing them to die off completely.

Our Approach
By taking an individualized approach to each project we complete, we are able to ensure that the goats are always taken care of and comfortable, whether it be a city like Manhattan or a rural type of location like Thurmond, WV. The goats have fresh water and shade available to them at all times.
To ensure the safety of the public (and the goats), the goats are kept behind cattle panel fencing that keeps the goats contained while they work.
We specialize in long-term projects, “flash mob” style projects, and are always happy to return year after year to continue helping our clients eliminate their invasive and nuisance species problem — our main goal.
